چکیده

Background White matter hyperintensities (WMH) can be visualized as abnormal T2 signal in the periventricular, deep and subcortical white on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). WMH increase with age are associated stroke, cognitive decline dementia. The most common visual rating scale used to assess clinical setting is Fazekas (Fazekas et al., 1987). current study investigated relationship between volume (expressed a % of intra-cranial (ICV)) calculated using an automated method included QyScore® medical device, scores multicentric memory clinic population at baseline. Method 1959 participants from MEMENTO cohort (Age 71.02 +/- 8.61, 1218 Female, MMSE 27.95 1.91) had 3DT1 FLAIR MRI scans analyzed QyScore®, FDA-approved CE-marked image analysis software. 814 amyloid status CSF or PET, which 216 were Amyloid+. volumes reported mL, corrected for %ICV. Correlation (DWM) quantitative measurements was ascertained by Spearman’s rank correlation. Result There significant positive correlation DWM %ICV (0.76 p<0.001) total sample, (0.81 negative (0.72 patients. also strong when separated diagnosis: patients Subjective Cognitive Complaint (SCC, N = 305, AGE: 69.87 8.03, 197 female, MMSE: 28.86 1.17) MCI (N 1638, Age: 71.2 8.69, 1014 27.8 1.95) presented correlated (0.66 p<0.001 SCC; 0.77 MCI). Conclusion quantification ICV-corrected well-correlated scores. Considering that time consuming suffers intra inter-operator variability, assessment load provided may improve impairment.

Close correlation between quantitative and qualitative assessments of white matter lesions.

BACKGROUND White matter lesions (WML) increase with age and are associated with stroke, cognitive decline and dementia. They can be visually rated or computationally assessed. METHODS We compared WML Fazekas visual rating scores and volumes, determined using a validated multispectral image-fusion technique, in Magnetic Resonance Imaging from 672 participants of the Lothian Birth Cohort 1936 a...

Cognitive impairments associated with medial temporal atrophy and white matter hyperintensities: an MRI study in memory clinic patients

In this retrospective study, we investigated the independent effects of white matter hyperintensities (WMH) and hippocampal atrophy on cognitive functions in a broad sample of patients seen in a memory clinic. To ensure generalizability, these associations were examined irrespective of diagnosis and with minimal exclusion criteria. Next to these independent effects, interactions between WMH and...

Impact of Strategically Located White Matter Hyperintensities on Cognition in Memory Clinic Patients with Small Vessel Disease

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Studies on the impact of small vessel disease (SVD) on cognition generally focus on white matter hyperintensity (WMH) volume. The extent to which WMH location relates to cognitive performance has received less attention, but is likely to be functionally important. We examined the relation between WMH location and cognition in a memory clinic cohort of patients with sporad...

White matter hyperintensities and working memory: an explorative study.

White matter hyperintensities (WMH) are commonly observed in elderly people and may have the most profound effect on executive functions, including working memory. Surprisingly, the Digit Span backward, a frequently employed working memory task, reveals no association with WMH. In the present study, it was investigated whether more detailed analyses of WMH variables and study sample selection a...
